Worship is one of the most central practices of the Christian faith, yet it is often misunderstood or reduced to a moment, place, or a style of music. In this message, we turn to Jesus’ conversation with the Samaritan woman in John 4, where He redefines what true worship really is. Rather than focusing on geography, tradition, or performance, Jesus reveals that worship flows from knowing who God is, responding to what He has done, and allowing that response to shape how we live. Our teaching today invites us to see worship not as something we simply do on occasion, but as a way of life formed by truth, gratitude, and obedience before God.

Water baptism has been practiced by followers of Jesus from the very beginning, yet it remains one of the most misunderstood steps of faith in the church today. In this message, we take a clear and biblical look at what water baptism is, where it came from, how it took shape in the New Testament, and why it still matters for us today. Rather than approaching baptism as a tradition, a ritual, or a religious requirement, we will see it as a meaningful response to the gospel—an act of obedience that publicly identifies us with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This teaching is meant to bring clarity, remove confusion, and invite every believer to take their next faithful step in following Jesus.

Our world defines greatness by visibility, influence, and being served—but Jesus turns that definition upside down. In the Kingdom of God, greatness is not about climbing higher; it’s about kneeling lower. Following Jesus does not lead us into a life of self-promotion or comfort, but into a way of living that is marked by humility, sacrifice, and service. Serving others is not an optional expression of faith—it is the very path Jesus walked and the practice He called His disciples to follow. Today, we will see that true greatness is found not in how many serve us, but in how willingly we serve others.

Prayer is one of the most familiar practices of the Christian faith, yet many believers struggle to understand how it is meant to shape their daily lives. Rather than offering a set of words to memorize or a method to master, Jesus invites His followers into a way of praying that aligns our heart with God’s purposes as we build a deeper relationship with Him. As we continue learning how Jesus taught His disciples to pray, we turn our attention to His model of prayer in Matthew 6:9–13, where He reveals a pattern that moves us from seeking the glory of God as we depend on Him for all that we need.

Prayer is one of the most central practices of the Christian faith, yet many believers feel unsure about how to pray or what prayer is truly meant to be. In the Sermon on the Mount, we begin learning from Jesus Himself, who first taught His disciples both what prayer is and what prayer is not. Rather than a performance, a formula, or a way to inform God, prayer is an invitation into a regular, and relational trust where we connect with God as our Heavenly Father.

The Practices of the Faith are not circumstantial responses to life going wrong, but intentional rhythms that keep us close to God when life is going right. This week, we focus on The Practice of Scripture which is the foundational practice that shapes every other aspect of our faith. The Bible was not given merely to inform us, but to form us! As we commit ourselves to regularly reading, reflecting, and meditating on God’s Word, we position ourselves to hear His voice more clearly and live faithfully under His authority.

Throughout Scripture, hunger is used as a powerful metaphor for desire, passion, and dependence on God. Just as physical hunger signals our need for food, spiritual hunger is a holy discomfort that reminds us we need more of God in our lives. This weekend we’ll explore what fuels our hunger for God, what hinders it, and how we can intentionally cultivate a deeper desire for His presence, His Word, and His ways. As we continue our time of fasting and seeking the Lord, we’re believing God to awaken fresh hunger and to satisfy us as we earnestly seek Him.

As we begin a new series called “Practices of the Faith”, we are focusing on the spiritual disciplines that shape how we follow Jesus in everyday life. Fasting is one of the most important and least understood of the practices in Scripture. Fasting is the intentional decision to lay aside food and other things in order to seek God more fully through prayer and dependence. We are beginning this series with fasting because it will help reset our spiritual priorities and create space for God to work in us. Also, as we enter into a season of prayer and fasting for 21 days, I believe that we will receive a renewed hunger, greater focus, and deeper reliance on God as a church family

In a world that constantly competes for our attention and shapes the way we think, desire, and live, it’s easy to be formed without even realizing it. Scripture reminds us that we are always being shaped by something—either by the patterns of the world or by the way of Jesus. This message invites us to pause, reflect, and realign our lives around Christ by asking honest questions about who or what is shaping us, who God is calling us to become, and how we will intentionally follow Him into that life. As we step into a new year, this is an invitation to reset—not our schedules or devices, but our discipleship—choosing once again to be formed by the ways and words of Jesus.

We talk about the story of Jesus all the time, but we don’t always stop to think about Joseph. Think about what he went through—finding out Mary was pregnant, wrestling with what to do, and then having angels speak to him. Scripture shows us a man under real pressure, facing a lot of uncertainty. Joseph didn’t have all the answers, but he trusted God anyway. And because of that, he saw and was a part of the story of Jesus, the Savior of the world. God always has the a better plan than we could ever have on our own; what is on the other side of our obedience?
