A New Path for a New Place

I don’t think anyone could have prepared for all that we are facing in our world today; with a worldwide pandemic, economic shutdown, travel bans, civil rights outcry, skyrocketing unemployment rates, school shutdowns, and so much more. Did I mention that all of this just happens to be going on during one of the most hostile and divided election years that we have ever known? I think it’s safe to say that many people just want all of this to be over so we can go back to whatever normal we used to have.

Prophets of Jesus | Prophesy: Session 5

Several years ago, the lead pastor at my home church decided to preach a sermon series on spiritual gifts. It was a quite detailed study as he went through each spiritual gift mentioned in the Bible individually (Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12-14, Ephesians 4). One of the ways he illustrated each gift was to identify a person in our congregation who exemplified the fruit of the gift he was highlighting that week. I thought this was a great way to teach through the gifts until the day he talked about the prophets. I dearly remember the weekend that he focused on the calling of a prophet because he called me up on stage and talked a little about my life and why he felt as though this was the gift and calling the Lord had given me.

Prophets of Old | Prophesy: Session 4

"In order for us to move toward engaging the prophetic ministry in our world today, we first must understand the prophetic ministry of the past. While I certainly believe that everyone CAN prophesy, as we previously discussed, I want to make it extremely clear that not everyone is a prophet nor does everyone have a prophetic gift. FOCUS: Pressing In Through Fasting & Prayer

All throughout Scripture we read about times in history where God’s people united together in prayer and fasting. We believe that this is such a time in 2020, so we are calling the body of Christ to press into God through prayer fasting during the month of August. As we seek God together in this way we expect that He will speak to us and move powerfully in our hearts and homes (Hebrews 11:6). If NWC is your church home we are asking you and your families to participate in this fast, and we encourage you to prepare your heart for how you will seek God during this time.

Everyone Can Prophesy | Prophesy: Session 3

In the midst of these difficult times God is unifying His people and equipping us to be a compelling representation of Jesus to those around us. The world needs Jesus. We know this is true, but we must not forget that we are the means by which God reveals his Son to those who have yet to know him.

Rooted By Choice

Jeremiah is sometimes called the “weeping prophet” because his assignment was to the nation of Judah. This nation of God’s chosen people were in their last season of rebellion before they were conquered and taken into exile. In Chapter 17, he speaks of how ingrained and permanent the sin of Judah is (v1). Their evil ways and sinful practices were as well established and as fondly remembered as their own children (v2). As a result, judgement was coming.

What Is Prophecy? | Prophesy: Session 2

If you were to ask 10 different people the question, "What is prophecy?" I expect you would get 10 different answers. While someone might get it right, most would get it wrong due to either ignorance (no teaching) or to confusion (wrong teaching). Either way let's face it: much controversy exists over the issue of prophecy.

The Race of Faith

Over the last five months, all of our lives have been changed in one way or another. Many familiar things have been stripped away and there is seemingly no end to the increase of voices that lobby for our daily attention. It’s easy to get distracted, especially in today’s world. However, the people of God must stay focused on what God has said and what God is doing or we will quickly become discouraged.

My Prophetic Journey | Prophesy: Session 1

Jesus said, "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me" (Jn. 10:27). In this session the primary point is that everyone can hear the voice of God prophetically. By this we mean that God wants to speak to us for others in a way that reveals the person and purposes of Jesus.
