What does it mean to be a faithful Christian? What does that really look like in our world today? The Apostle Paul not only spoke about this specifically, but he embodied it by the way he lived. In the final verses of Philippians chapter 1, Paul exhorted the church to live consistently, unified and fearless, no matter what came against them. All these exhortations remain true for us today as we seek to follow Jesus faithfully.

How do we experience freedom from the power and weight of our problems? Our problems are heavy, but they do not have to consistently weigh us down. The apostle Paul walked through many tribulations, yet found joy and freedom in the midst of it. What did he have? what changed? In Christ we can experience more that what the world can give us but we must keep our eyes of Jesus.Speaker: Pastor Ben Dixon Scripture: Philippians 1:12-26 Series: Philippians: Joy From a Jail Cell Northwest Church - www.nwcfoursquare.org"On mission with Jesus to see the lost saved and disciples made."

Secularism is an attempt at life without God. It is a result of thinking we can do life on our own. What emerges are patterns that put us in the place that God has created us to have Him in leaving is more confused and empty than we ever thought. The reality is, God created us and He is truth. How do we maintain this posture in the age that we live? Pastor Phil Manginelli reminds us of what it means to truly remain a disciple of Jesus despite the confusion around us.

It can be easy to feel like we aren’t growing, things aren’t changing, and God isn’t doing much in our lives. There are many reasons for why we feel this way, but a lot of it has to do with how we think. The problem we often have is that the process God uses for our development is not as fast or as clear as we would like it to be. But here is the truth: God is at work in our lives right now (Philippians 2:13) and we can be sure that He will finish what He started. In our passage today, we will be encouraged as the Apostle Paul shares his prayerful confidence with the church in Philippi that God is a finisher!

The book of Philippians is widely known for a handful of famous passages and its practical encouragement. However, what else do we know about this letter? Who wrote it? Why did they write it? Who was it written to? Do the answers to these questions help us understand and live out what is found in this text? Of course! Today we will explore the context of the book of Philippians and discuss some specific titles that are mentioned in the first few verses. I pray that this simple overview will help us to not overlook details that matter as we seek to understand and follow what Scripture teaches.

The story of Christmas is the clearest picture of God’s love. He took the initiative and provided a way for us to be in relationship with Him again through Jesus Christ. God loves us so much that He is constantly drawing us to Himself that we might respond with a full surrender. In our passage today we will encounter some men called the “magi” who are looking for the King of the Jews right after the birth of Christ. This story is much more than a historical narrative because it shows us how far God will go to draw us to Himself. The question that we must answer today is how will we respond to such overwhelming love?

God made us to experience his good and perfect Joy. The bible tells us that Joy is more the a good feeling, but an action and mindset that we choose. Paul is a great example of a man that choose Joy. We see how God blessed him with Joy in the middle of problems.

When God made the world and created human beings, everything was good and there was peace. However, once sin entered the world through disobedience, it caused chaos, division and unrest with God and one another. The arrival of Jesus brought comprehensive peace that has past, present and future implications. As we celebrate the advent of Christ we are reminded that Jesus brought peace into the world and will continue to do so until He returns when all things will be fully and completely at rest once again.
